Situation
Background Information[EXPEDITIONARY FORCES CDLC IS REQUIRED][THIS IS A RECON ONLY MISSION, DO NOT EXPECTED COMBAT]
After Russia decided to join the CSAT alliance as a full member in late 2039, tensions rapidly rose across eastern Europe. With Europe at a breaking point, what began as a local confrontation between Polish border guards and the Belarussian army has now turned into a global conflict between NATO and CSAT. In the initial phases, CSAT managed to push NATO back into east Germany and Italy before the frontlines could be stabilised. After the death of the Chinese paramount leader and the ensuing power struggle, instigated by a crippled Chinese economy caused by the collapsing global trade, the Chinese government decided to pull out of CSAT and declare neutrality in the conflict. With the forces tied up in the pacific theatre now available, a sizeable NATO naval force and their attached marines has been relocated to Europe. NATO Forces are now preparing operations to push CSAT forces out of the Aegean Sea. Amphibious and air-mobile operations are planned to capture the island of Altis. Altis is a strategic location due to its two long hardened runways and it's port capacity. Already devastated by a bloody civil war 5 years ago, Altis now serves as a major operations outpost for CSAT forces in the Aegean Sea. Operations are expected to last 5 days. Due to persistent poor weather satellite intelligence is insufficient in determining enemy positioning. Field reconnaissance is required.Five-Star Rating System
