Situation

Background Information
Excerpt from a briefing held in Levie MOB:
[S.C]: ..which pretty much sums up the frontline reports, sir. [R.R]: Excellent, final point of order, then, is the civilian informant report which I included in your briefing notes. [S.C]: Ah, Provins? Looks like a costly advance, sir. We're tied up with digging in. [R.R]: We won't be needing to spare any manpower for this one, lieutenant- -B Company has arrived. Excerpt Ends
Recent civilian reports from Chotain indicate that Everon National Guard troops have been entering civilian homes across the island and taking valuables (in particular gold), whilst reassuring them that they are serving their nation well. Acting upon both an operational requirement to secure the valuable crossroads town of Provins, and HUMINT gathered from civilians- Blacksmith directs the deployment of B-Company's considerable human resources for a coordinated assault and secure mission.

Campaign Situation and update:

Everon, 1989 General Alexei Zhukov- an ex-soviet commander, and leader of a small army of the island of Everon- has staged a coup and taken martial control of a once democratic microstate in the mid-Atlantic region. After gaining approval with the UN, the United States has committed a task force under the operational designation Blacksmith to move to the island and wrest control from the rogue military state being set up by Zhukov. Now, after securing a solid footing on the S/E portion of Everon, Blacksmith's task force has thus far encountered well-supplied, motivated defending forces under the Everon National Guard. Following many days of rough fighting over the Levie isthmus, friendly positions through Chotain, Laruns and Levie are secured and digging in. Blacksmith now directs their attention toward securing valuable corridors of movement in order to position for further advancement across Everon.
Expected Level of Combat : ☆☆☆☆☆ Expected Level of RP: ☆ Expected Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆ Three-star rating: ☆ Little to none expected ☆☆ Decent amount expected ☆☆☆ Heavy emphasis / main focus of Operation

Friendly Forces
Blacksmith's Bravo Company is largely drawn from US army regulars deemed 'troublemakers' or 'lost causes' by their respective previous units. Under Blacksmith's direction and righteous action during the confrontation on Everon, they will redeem themselves or give their lives for the cause. Friendly Force consists of 1x B-Coy Platoon- callsign Sierra- supported by mortar section Tango, and a large logistics compliment for assistance with construction/ hazard removal and supply.

Supporting Assets
Friendly forces consisting mostly of A and C companies are holding the Levie isthmus and north to Chotain. The defences are still quite new along our frontline, and they are mostly concerned with securing their positions.

Enemy Forces
Everon National Guard [ENG] army regulars, suspected heavy defences and lots of manpower protecting their vital logistics supply routes. Blacksmith suspects the heavy defences are also related to the HUMINT reports of commandeered civilian valuables.

Mission

Tasking
The crossroads town of Provins has acted as a vital supply hub for Everon National Guard [ENG] units acting in Levie and the S/E peninsula. During our methodical advance along the island they have had time to dig in. Whilst this town would be an important objective alone in both securing our own supply lines and restricting enemy movements, we have received reports from civilian informants that the ENG has been effectively raiding their own citizens and forcefully taking their valuables, with a particular emphasis on gold. Due to our precarious frontline positions, main Blacksmith elements are being tasked both with fortifying our frontline, and conducting probing attacks West of Levie to both gauge enemy responsiveness and offer a distraction from B-Coy's tasking.

Primary Tasking

-Secure the crossroad town of Provins

Secondary Tasking

-Secure stockpiled enemy supplies and/or civilian possessions to be catalogued -Prevent enemy supplies and/or civilian possessions from being evacuated -Learn what you can of the enemy supply situation and the raids on civilian homes

End-state
Provins secured by Sierra. Should the position at the town be untenable, cause maximum damage to enemy assets and infrastructure before conducting an orderly retreat back to whichever position is defensible.

Execution

Tasks and Sequencing
PHASE 0 Sierra call signs prepare an on-foot assault via the woods from Chotain. ROE: Orange. TANGO 3 prepares a mortar pit with pre-calculated phase 1 targets. Sustainment via LIMA 4. PHASE 1 SIERRA platoon breaks out NW through the woods. Bounding movement to contact. Expect fog. Short, quick bounds. Squads must maintain LOS. Assault the farm compounds from NNW. TANGO 3 executes a suppression mission. Provision S1 to break in first. S2 for base of fire, following closely after before LOS breaks. Repeat for La Valette compounds. SIERRA replenishes via LIMA. TANGO moves the mortar pit to a defensible location nearby. PHASE 2 SIERRA moves back to the woods north of the farm. TANGO provides smoke and suppression cover. SIERRA pivots west, moving to contact the next defensive line. TANGO executes a suppression mission. SIERRA uses Rounds Complete as the movement trigger to break in. When compound clear and secure, SIERRA assaults through fortifications headed NW to PROVINS. PHASE 3 SIERRA continues the assault with momentum into Provins. Leading squad secures compounds ref. TRP 09, south edge of Provins. Trailing squad supports by fire. Follow when foothold secured. Pivot right along the road. Secure Provins building by building. LOA is the petrol station NW of Provins and the edge of the treeline south towards Figari.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply
LIMA 4 provides forward sustainment. In Phase 2 at the latest, LIMA must be ready to build forward defences as required to fortify every assault point.
